FURNITURE FOR LIFE

Furniture from Bruunmunch Furniture are made to last, because we belive that sustainability is not just about chosing sustainable raw materials for our products but also about creating furniture that can last for generations.

MAKE IT LAST

To ensure your solid wood furniture last the longest and keeps looking beautiful throughout its lifespan, it is essintial that it is cared for correctly.

Wood is a natural material, and furniture made of wood will always be unique. Grains, knots and colour differences are natural features of wood.

Wood undergoes a process of change throughout its lifespan. Colours and structures change gradually over the years giving the furniture a beautiful patina.

THINGS TO MIND

You should try to avoid placing your furniture in direct sunlight. The light from the sun will naturally mature the wood and make it changes color.

Be aware not to place vases or other decoration in the same spot for longer periods of time as this may cause discolouration which will be difficult to erase.

Wooden furniture should be placed in rooms with a relative air humidity of 30-60% and a temperature of approximately 20°C. Wood absorbs and emits humidity according to the climate in which it is placed.

Solid wood must be allowed to breathe and must therefore never be covered by an airtight material such as plastic or oilcloth for more than six hours at a time as this may cause the wood to bend or crack.

Our solid wood extension tables has a joint in the middle. A small opening in the middle of the joint may appear in the summer period, while in the winter period, a small opening may appear in the ends of the joint.

We recommend that you do not place your furniture close to heat sources such as radiators or wood stoves as this may cause the wood to dry out. And you should never place hot objects directly on the wooden top, but always use a protective coaster.

DAILY MAINTENANCE

The daily cleaning is easily done with a firmly wrung out cloth with clean water. Do not use chemicals, detergents, scrub sponges, steel wool or the like as this will discolour or damage the surface.

OIL TREATED FURNITURE

It is important that you regularly maintain your oil treated furniture. We recommend that you treat your furniture 2-4 times a year or according to need. We have made a careset available for purchase in our webshop containing the quality oils we use, and materials for the treatment.

OIL TREATMENT

Start by cleaning the furniture with a soft cloth firmly wrung out in clean, hot water. It is important that the furniture is completely clean and dry before treatment.

Before applying oil gently sand the table with the included sand paper sponges, first with grain 180 and then with grain 220. Always sand on a dry surface, and always in the grain direction. After sanding make sure to remove all residual dust with a clean dry cloth. If removing scratches or stains be sure to sand the hole surface to avoid making spots on the table top.

Apply the oil with the included white sponge. Never pour the oil directly onto the wood. Apply an even layer of oil in the grain direction, let the oil penetrate for 10 minutes, then wipe off any excess oil with the included dry, lint free cloth.

Leave the oil to dry for an hour and rub the surface with a clean, soft and lint free cloth until the surface is even.

The surface will be surface dry after 24 hours, avoid placing anything on the table until it has dried completely. The oil will be fully hardend after 7 days. Do not use a wrung out cloth to clean the table before after the surface is fully hardend.

CAUTION!

Cloths and sponges soaked with oil can ignite spontaneously. They must therefore always be placed in a closed bag with water before they are disposed of.

Be cautious of your clothes and floor when oiling with our pigmented oils for white oil, and smoked oak. These oils contains pigments that maintain the color of your tables. These pigments may stain clothes, floor or other furniture.
